Crested
Geckos originate from the South Pacific Island of New Caledonia. They were
previously thought to be extinct in the wild for nearly 100 years until they
were re-discovered in 1994. Since their re-discovery they have proven to be one
of the most popular pet geckos in the world.

Crested Gecko care requirements are relatively straightforward as their environmental conditions are relatively easy to recreate and they will eat a varied diet of insects, fruit and specially formulated gecko diets. Due to the ease of breeding them, they have now been selectively bred for a wide range of colours. They are a calm and laid back species of gecko that responds well to handling making them an ideal choice for first time reptile keepers. In 2012 they were re-classified from Rhacodactylus ciliatus to Correlophus ciliatus.
