Pellionia repens, the creeping watermelon vine is a fast growing species of creeping plant that will rapidly cover the floor or grow up the backing in a vivarium. Staying close to the growing surface this plant rarely exceeds 10cm in height but can spread to cover 1-2sqft within an enclosure if allowed. It prefers wet  environments with nutrient rich soil so is perfect in amphibian enclosures. This species will even creep into water features and continue to grow semi submerged. Able to tolerate a wide variety of lighting conditions but preferes moderate filtered light rather than direct intense light. Normally mixed shades of greens and greys the leaves can take on a pink colouration with age under optimum conditions and normally flowers over winter/spring but may flower at any time of year within a controlled environment.
