Pure Nosy Faly locality female panther chameleon, ideal for chameleon breeders. It is impossible to distinguish the locality of a female panther chameleon by its visual appearance as they all show the same variable colours which are not linked to their locality. It is only the males that have the bright colours, females although pretty in their own right are only ever shades of pink, orange and some individuals can be a blueish grey, it is the males that have the fantastic colours. If you are intending to breed, it is important to have a female of the same locality as your male.
Follicular stasis (egg binding) is very common in female Panther Chameleons, particularly unmated and overweight individuals because they are genetically programmed to live fast and produce large numbers of eggs at a comparatively young age. It is also worth noting that adult females are prone to obesity if overfed, this further compounds health complications when laying eggs. When opting for a pet you should always choose a male to avoid these reproductive risks. We list females for sale for the benefit of chameleon breeders rather than pet keepers.
Nosy Faly, meaning "happy Island" are a locality from just off the north west coast of Madagascar approximately 7 miles from the perhaps better known island of Nosy Be. Superficially the males are similar in appearance to Nosy Be and Ankify locality males and share a lot of the blue and turquoise colouration. Nosy Faly however often have more of a blue and white colour scheme often with varying amounts of red spotting and varying amounts of red to the bars on their hind quarters. "Orana Mena" which translates to "Red Rain" are a highly desirable form of Nosy Faly; this is due to their high levels of white colouration with increased red spotting, Orana Mena type individuals are seldom seen in the hobby but some of our offspring do show these characteristics.

Panther chameleons are one of the largest and arguably the most colourful of all chameleons. They are native to Madagascar and occur over most of the island. The males are considerably more colourful and grow much larger than the females. The colour scheme of each male is determined by whereabouts in Madagascar they come from (referred to as their locality).
