Collared Lizards are an attractive active lizard species native to Northern and Central America. They require a relatively large amount of space for their size as they are incredibly active and require high basking temperatures (45 to 50 C) but also need to be able to cool down to 25C, a steep temperature gradient like this is only really possible in a relatively large enclosure (4 foot minimum). A night time drop to 18 to 22 is also recommended. They reach an adult size of around 35cm (including tail), and are particularly attractive lizards as adults, they exhibit sexual dimophism when adult in terms of colouration with males being much brighter than females. Males have a blueish body whereas females are much browner.  A very active and entertaining species with easy care requirements makes Collared Lizards a great addition to any collection.
