The Parlour Palm (Chamaedorea elegans) is a popular terrarium plant that is quite easy to care for and tolerates a wide array of habitats but does require regular watering. Unfortunately this species is very susceptible to being eaten, and is a favourite with locusts so often does not last as long in the vivarium of species that feed regularly on locusts. Originally native to Mexico and Guatemala. Due to its hardiness this makes an excellent vivarium plant as it is able to tolerate a wide variety of temperatures, humidity and light levels. A great option for arboreal species as this plant has the potential to grow to 3m in height!
