This dried mix of sterilised leaves including Poplar Maple and Birch is great for creating the top layer of forest style enclosures but functions equally well in dry arid enclosures too. Leaf litter provides refuges to smaller species and environmental enrichment to larger species of reptile and amphibian.

Leaf Litter is an essential component to the forest floor, often providing refuge as well as a food source to the various soil invertebrates that keep bioactive enclosures healthy. In a humid environment it will gradually break down over time and enrich the soil with additional nutrients but will need topping up with another layer every few months.
