The cane toad, also known as the giant neotropical toad or marine toad, is a large, terrestrial true toad native to South and mainland Central America, but which has been introduced to various islands throughout Oceania and the Caribbean, as well as Northern Australia. It is the world's largest toad.

As a large active Toad, these animals require quite a large enclosure when they are adults. They need to be sprayed regularly and given a deep soil substrate to burrow. They have a large appetite and will eat almost any insects and worms.

People may often think of amphibians as being devoid of intelligence or character but that’s not the case with these. Over time they will readily recognise their keeper and appear to “beg” for food and will readily feed from your hands.
