Yellow Headed Gecko (Gonatodes albogularis fuscus) are a stunning Caribbean dwarf gecko species that exhibit sexual dimorphism (the males and females look totally different). They are native to Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Martinique and Florida (introduced). The females are brown to light grey with spots. Males have a yellow to orange head with a black to dark grey body with a blueish hue. They are a semi arboreal species found in humid to semi-arid habitats where they live in amongst leaf litter or on the base of larger trees. Unlike many geckos they are actually diurnal (active during the day).

They are a small species, adult males being slightly larger than the females but still rarely exceeding 10cm total length. They will thrive in live planted naturalistic or bioactive set ups and have relatively straightforward care requirements meaning they are suitable for a beginner. Due to their size and also speed they are unsuitable for handling and are best kept as a display species. They can be kept in small groups (1 male only per enclosure) and will thrive on a diet of small insects.
