These are a terrestrial snake species from Madagascar. Despite their common name, these animals are completely unrelated to the more commonly seen Western Hognose from North America. These snakes reach a maximum size of 150cm (5 feet) and are very active so require a large viv as an adult. They are sexually dimorphic in size, with males being much smaller than females.
