This lizard reaches a total length of 35 centimeters, but half of this length is tail. The tail is prehensile and they have a very prehistoric alligator like appearance. They are native to highland cloud forest in Veracruz and Puebla (Mexico), where they live high up in the tree canopy. They feed mainly on insects and need a varied diet and high levels of UVB lighting, an additional source of high output LEDs would also be beneficial. They require a hot spot of around 28 to 30c but need to be able to escape this to around 20c ambient. They also need spraying multiple times per day.
