Scorpion Gecko (Pristurus carteri) are a relatively small but ‘chunky’ species of gecko native to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. Scorpion geckos are mainly terrrestrial and are active during the daylighth ours where they bask on warm rocks. They are relatively hardy individuals and should be kept similar to viper geckos with a rocky sandy style enclosure; despite this they do require misting in the morning. Through experience we have found that they will also actively bask under UV lights during the day so the requirement of UV light for this species is a necessity.
This species is appropriate as a beginner species due to their ease of care but due to their rarity they should definitely be on peoples list of species to captive breed. They are not suitable for handling.
