Red Rump Tarantulas, sometimes also referred to as a Mexican black velvet are another medium/large docile Mexican tarantula species. As adults they are jet black except for the bright red hairs on their abdomen. They are reluctant to bit but can be a little skittish and release urticating hairs if they feel threatened. They are a fast growing species that reach adult in 1-2 years.
