The most commonly available tomato frog in the pet trade, D. guineti originates from Madagascar. The common name derives from their deep red to orange colouration. When threatened they puff up their body to appear larger to predators. and they can also secrete a sticky substance.They are a hardy frog species in captivity and are easy to care for, although they are a pet more suited to be observed rather than to be handled.
